Guidelines For MRCP-1 Exam ! ( My Experience)

I cleared my MRCP-1 exam in September 2013 And have Cleared my MRCP-2 in This July ( Only by grace of Allah almighty)

MRCP-1 is the beginning of your dream to be International Medical Specialist,is the beginning of your journey to have a glorious medical career and of your skill from local to foreign level.

FIRM DECISION : 

Most important thing is ur commitment towards mrcp-1. its the first step and if you not going to clear it in first attempt then may be u r not going to attempt it again ever (due to financial issues and lack of motivation) so to come on track you have to give it with very good preparation.

BOOKS :

The most frequently asked question is the choice of books.I cleared the exam with good margin by following the simplest regime. so i be glad if u follow the same.

PASS MEDICINE FOR MRCP-1 : 

This 5 volumes series is no doubt the text book for mrcp-1 . It covers each and every mcq/topic u r going to face on exam day. so read explanations of each mcq as many times as u can from this book. By many times i mean 5 good revisions ( the way i did)..Every word of this book should be on ur tips. and first of all u r going to do it twice before moving to some other book.

ON EXAMINATION SERIES FOR MRCP-1 : 

This is the book which gona groom ur preparation from simple knowledge to highly professional clinical knowledge. The mcqs and explanations in this book are very close to original exam and will be a very good addition to your knowing about different disease and bedside situations.This book shall help you in deciding the right option based on your pass medicine core knowledge.its 2013 new edition was written in very nice way.

I DID AND RECOMMEND ONLY THESE 2 ABOVE SERIES.

PASTEST SERIES : its very difficult one and i recommend you to do only after u done with Pass medicine and On examination series. as this book has less exam yield than the above 2 series.

OTHER OPTIONS : People will recommend you many books i.e. Philip Kalra.

Oxford clinical book for medicine

Personally i don't think any of these books going to help you much exam point of view so No Need to do any of them.

TIME DURATION OF STUDIES :

I recommend your people at-least 4 months of day and night study for it.I did it in 3 months but i had a good study partner with me so we did it bit more efficiently but give at-least 4 months time with max. hour every day.

STRATEGY :

Your strategy should be to study targeted material only but with very strong grip on it. No need to read multiple books. read only few and necessary ones but do them multiple times so that every single information and concepts should be very clear and on your tips.

Most Important thing is your belief in this principle of nature that every thing is in Allah hand.Its Only ALLAH who can give You or who can take from you ( for some better reason) . So belief in him if He is with you and your parent and people around you are happy, you can get through any exam of the world.
